Upper Dolpo & Shey Gompa trek is a remarkable adventure with tremendous views of Mt. Dhaulagiri Himalaya (8,167m), range with Api and Saiphal including Kagmara Himal. visiting rural remote villages of interesting culture and traditions of Tibetan origin and in the country where Blue sheep and beautiful snow leopard dwells. Adventure to Upper Dolpo & Shey Gompa begins with a scenic sweeping flight to Nepalgunj city towards Nepal Far South West in warmer zone, from Nepalgunj with another scenic flight to Dolpo and landing in Jhupal village with amazing views of Api, Saiphal and Dhaulagiri range. From Jhupal head towards Dunai a headquarter town of Dolpo district, from here our remarkable adventure starts with a good walk towards emerald Phokshumdo Lake also called Ringmo located in tranquil environment.


Upper Dolpo & Shey Gompa trekking around interesting villages with Tibetan Buddhist and Bon culture (earlier of pre Buddhism) and traditions, walk continues leading to barren arid country with amazing views of red rock formation walls high cliffs in the backdrop of high snow capped mountains.Upper Dolpo & Shey Gompa trekking leads through villages of Ankhe , Sumdu / Sulighat village  to reach at Phokshumdo Lake with nice Tibetan cultured village of Ringmo, after a rest day with awesome time exploring the lake and village, adventure carries on to cross a high pass of Kang-la 5,360 m. the highest point of this adventure, and then to Shey Gompa. the Crystal Monastery beneath the towering of  Crystal Mountain. This area is well described in Peter Mattessian classic novel “The Snow Leopard” and made it much popular by exposing this beautiful country to the outside world.


Here explore the mystical old Monastery, Shey means crystal in local language, just close to the monastery stands Crystal Mountain one of the strangest mountains, as its contorted cliffs is laced with quartz and embedded with a rich variety of marine fossils. LOCATION:     Shey-Phuksundo National Park is situated in the mountain region of western Nepal, covering parts of Dolpo and Mugu Districts. It is the largest national park in the country.

FEATURES:      The Park contains luxuriant forests, mainly comprised of blue pine, spruce, cypress, poplar, deodar, fir and birch. The Jugdula River valley consists mostly of Quercus species. The trans-Himalayan area has a near-desert type vegetation of mainly dwarf juniper and caragana shrubs.

The park provides prime habitat for the snow leopard and the blue sheep. Other common animals found in the park are goral, Himalayan thar, serow, leopard, wolf, jackal, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan weasel, Himalayan mouse hare, yellow-throated marten, languor and rhesus monkeys.

The park is equally rich in many species of birds, such as Impeyan pheasant (Danfe), blood pheasant, cheer pheasants, red and yellow billed cough, raven, jungle crow, snow partridge and many others.
